
How it all started
Clean Up Your CRAP Diet started when I was looking for a way to consistently make healthier food choices.
I’d do what most people do and commit to changing everything only to give up a few frustrating weeks later.
After researching habit formation, I learnt that it’s easier to be nudge in the right direction then make big dramatic changes. This way, habits are created that have the perception of being effortless.
I developed a system I call progressively scheduling, which incrementally introduces new behaviours until you arrive at the habit you are trying to make. At which point, they stick!
The story
Convinced I had stumbled upon a method on how to change, I now needed to know what to change. Using my background in medical biochemistry, I started to investigate the latest research on nutrition. Everything I read pointed to 3 things…
The approach
By reducing consumption of ultra-processed food and drink, increasing my friendly gut bacteria and stabilising sugar rushes I started to notice dramatic changes to my physical and mental wellbeing, most noticeably my weight. I lost over 10 kg (22 lbs) in the next 4 months. But it went further than that, my moods were better, my skin clearer, and the clarity of my thinking was much improved.
